It is also worth knowing, however, that just because a product contains a simple alcohol, it doesn’t mean it will be drying on your skin – even if it is high up the product list. The product may be rich in emollient ingredients, or fatty alcohols. Products like moisturizers are unlikely to be drying on the skin – because they are designed to impart moisture or help your skin to retain its moisture. Gels designed for reducing acne on the other hand, and similarly toners designed for oily skin, are more likely to have a drying effect on your skin.
It's often said that "the eyes are first to go." While diminished eye sight can be an early sign of aging, so the eye area often shows fine lines and wrinkles before the rest of the face. In order to maintain a youthful appearance, use an eye cream that combats wrinkles as part of your daily skin-care regimen. The top anti-aging eye creams contain various wrinkle-busters -- from vitamin A to all-natural botanicals. Make your selection by assessing ingredients to determine which cream best addresses your personal concerns.
"Best face care product I have ever used! I tried this on a whim because my dry sensitive skin (prone to oily patches and large pores) was even drier than usual and nothing I had was helping....I didn't want to get into winter and have the dreaded flaky skin, especially on the rare days I wear makeup. Anyways, this lotion exceeds all my wants in every way. It is lightweight, non greasy, absorbs very quickly, and lasts all day." —supersjh
Skin care with botanically derived anti-aging ingredients are gaining popularity. Quercetin, found in tea, apple skin, red grapes, red onions and berries stimulates collagen production, thus diminishing the appearance of wrinkles. As the name suggests, Korres Quercetin & Oak Antiageing Antiwrinkle Eye Cream contains quercetin -- the first natural, clinically proven alternative to retinol. This eye cream also fights wrinkles with myrtle extract (improves skin elasticity), mourera fluviatilis extract (moisturizes), baobab polysaccharides (firms) and rhodiola rosea extract (reduces puffiness and brightens the under-eye area).

Of the 1131 subjects within the randomized vehicle-clinical trials for tazarotene, 97% were white. Subjects with darker Fitzpatrick Skin Types V and VI were not studied, which results in an inadequate determination of efficacy of the product to darker skin types.  Within two trials submitted, a slight improvement in fine wrinkling was seen in 5% and 13%, respectively of both trials. All others had minimal improvement, no change or got worse.

In a previous Health interview, dermatologist Jessica Krant MD, recommended this product for those looking to start using a retinol product, explaining that "the ingredients are of good quality and I have never had anyone complain about any skin reaction or difficulty managing this retinol." It packs hyaluronic acid to boost moisture while also erasing fine lines.

Use gentle strokes on the eye area. I like to use light pressure and plenty of serum/cream. Use light, shimmering tapping (imagine doing jazz fingers). Be sure to press the serum into the skin instead of just pushing it around. Finish up by drawing a horizontal figure 8 (or the infinity symbol!) around the boundaries of your eye area–this is good for lymphatic drainage.
Truth is, your eye puffiness and darkness could be inherited. "The undereye area is one of the thinner areas and is easily neglected in basic skin care," says Paul Jarrod Frank, a cosmetic dermatologist in New York City. "There is a strong genetic component to dark circles, which is out of people’s control." Womp, womp. Yes, much of the reason you have those circles is that of your parents' own thin skin (thanks, Mom). Sometimes you have them because of an increase in pigment in that area. But don't run to the doctor asking for a pricey laser or needle treatment. Below are ways to minimize the appearance of those circles that won't cost you an arm or a leg. These affordable tips go way beyond putting cucumbers on your eyes.
Luckily for us, 2019 (and the technology it brings) allows us to turn back the clock a bit and live life without a topographical map of wrinkles. Whether you’re trying to stave off that very first wrinkle or treat years of skin damage, adding a good pro-collagen cream into your skincare arsenal is a fantastic way to look as youthful and confident as you feel on the inside!

The term "beauty sleep" gets thrown around all the time, but, turns out, it's a very real thing. While you sleep, your skin kicks into high gear, undergoing a long list of natural processes to help it repair and regenerate. Plus, "while you sleep, cortisol is at its lowest and anti-inflammatory molecules like beta endorphins and growth hormones are at their highest, so that's when skin heals," says Amy Wechsler, M.D., a psych-derm in New York City. As a reminder, low levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) are a very good thing for your skin, since the hormone does everything from increase inflammation to up the likelihood of breakouts. So pull a few all-nighters or super-early mornings in a row, and you'll quickly see this lack of sleep show up on your face.

And I was officially hooked. At only 23, I was used to looking perpetually exhausted. Genetics had played a role, sure, but very long hours at the office and a stress-ridden lifestyle certainly hadn’t helped. Even if I was able to diminish the shadows under my eyes with a heavy layer of colour-correcting concealer, the bags remained—and in some cases, the creasing made them look even more obvious. But I was still happier to resign myself to this rather than the alternative: As much as I wanted to say screw it and just go without makeup, you can only get (rude) remarks like “Are you feeling all right?” and “Whoa—late night?” so many times before it starts to sting.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that alcohol causes dehydration – you only need to think of your last “morning after the night before” to know that! But you may not know the effects it can have on your skin. Research has shown that drinking alcohol in excess can cause premature or accelerated aging. This can also be linked to the effects that excessive alcohol has on your blood pressure and other organs.

“This is the most hydrating and potent wrinkle cream that is an absolute must-do with your nightly anti-aging regimen,” said Karuna Chani, a New York-based makeup artist whose high-profile clients include Caroline Scheufele, co-president of Chopard. “It’s incredibly effective because it's scientifically formulated with an amino-peptide complex that promotes cell turnover, skin elasticity and healing. After 15 years of working with all skin types, I can’t stress enough the importance of a good moisturizer to help keep the skin youthful and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.”
If you don't sleep much during the night, try taking about 45 minute naps once or twice, depending on how much sleep you lose each night. Water, as said in the article above, also helps a lot. If you cannot seem to fall asleep easily during the day (or not at all), try exercising. It tires the body (obviously) and makes your muscles 'long' for rest to strengthen.
We’ve talked a lot about warding off wrinkles with creams, but what if you’ve taken a more drastic approach. Look, we aren’t here to judge. For many people, plastic surgery and cosmetics procedures are the perfect way to fight the signs of aging in a fast and sure-fire way. If you have recently undergone a cosmetic procedure, then you know just how important it is to find topical products that are safe to use on your skin post-procedure.

There are three different types of acids in this nighttime treatment: alpha hydroxy, beta hydroxy, and flower acids. The result? The perfect combination of exfoliating, pore-reducing, and skin-clarifying benefits. The addition of hyaluronic acid and honey ensure your complexion never feels stripped, just soft and smooth. Use it two to three times per week, gradually increasing the frequency.
The LiftActiv Supreme is a new generation of anti-aging skincare. It has been specifically designed to reduce daily aging, giving you a youthful glow all day. It helps to smoothe wrinkles and illuminate your complexion, giving you visibly firmer-looking skin in 1 month.  It has “3D Optical Correctors” which aim to blur and illuminate your skin to keep your youthful appearance all day long, reinforcing your skin against daily shocks.
Maybe it is just me, but I pay $15 dollars a month as a treat for myself and am never really disappointed in the allure box. I figure I always get to try something that I may not have been otherwise willing to try (for the cost). I realized a while back, when I did start to get disappointed, that I was usually just feeding off of negative comments. Sure some things don’t work for me, others I have found to be a holy grail. I give away some as gifts but I usually always feel as though I get my money’s worth.
Well, the Wander Beauty mascara is valued at $24 and the Model Co is actually a highlighting cream trio valued at $22. I don’t expect every box to just “get me.” There will always be hits and misses. There are no comparable boxes that provide full size high-end samples for $15. Not to mention, Allure then turns around and includes or mails out an additional full size sample often. Customer service is also speedy when ordering through Amazon. Beats the heck out of Sephora Play @ $10.
When all else fails, help cover your under-eye bags with makeup! Stock your makeup bag with a flesh-toned concealer so that you can quickly dab over any unwanted under-eye bags. Try the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer, and for a natural-looking finish, gently apply concealer with the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Concealer Blender.
"Here’s how I use this product: I place some cream (about the size of 1-2 green peas) on my index finger and dab it on my forehead, my nose, each cheek and my chin before slowly rubbing the product into my skin in a large circular motion — first clockwise, then counterclockwise. Any product that's left on my fingers goes right to the backs of my hands for some anti-aging there,” says Dr. Gary Goldenberg, M.D., assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Hyaluronic acid — the beauty world’s favorite moisturizing component that can hold 1000x its weight in water — is the standout ingredient in this Instagram-able yet effective cream. The formula is also topped off with date seed extract (a soothing, anti-inflammatory) and avocado protein extract (which protects your skin with a blend of vitamins A, D, and E).
When it comes to targeting under-eye puffiness at home, New York City dermatologist Dr. David Colbert advises looking for products with gentle ingredients–chamomile, algae extract, liquorice root, hyaluronic acid and oils like argan, pomegranate, or marula. For a quick fix, Colbert's eye gel combines hyaluronic acid with aloe, horse chestnut, and mulberry to calm puffiness and minimize dark circles.
“I have dry skin, but I also tend to break out if I layer on a night cream that's too rich. This product provides the perfect solution — I simply take a quarter size of my night cream, add a few drops of this serum, and smooth it onto my face, neck and cheeks. Whatever’s left goes on my hands. It basically supercharges my moisturizer, giving me more hydrated skin without clogging my pores. I tell people using these two products together freezes my skin in time,” says Dr. Whitney Bowe, M.D., a New York-based dermatologist.
Vitamin A and its derivatives (retinoids) are the most prevalent anti-aging ingredients on the market today. Tretinoin, a retinoid approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is only available by prescription. And although there is ample scientific evidence that shows the ability of retinoids to have a positive effect on cell gene rearrangements, fibroblast activity, and collagen synthesis, studies proving cosmetic benefits with statistical significance are lacking.
Never, ever, EVER go to sleep with a full face of makeup on your face! We know it can be frustrating and time-consuming to wash away that killer smoky eye at the end of the evening (especially after a few cocktails), but trust us: your face will thank you in the morning! Not only does makeup prohibit your skin’s natural abilities to breathe and create a breeding ground for bacteria and blemishes, sleeping in those harsh chemicals can cause eye irritation and even infections. Yuck!

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classifies creams and lotions as cosmetics, which are defined as having no medical value. So the FDA regulates them less strictly than it does drugs. This means that cosmetic products don't undergo the same rigorous testing for safety and effectiveness that topically applied medications undergo. Regarding this category of creams and lotions, the FDA's main concern is safety, not effectiveness.

When we think of anti-aging cream ingredients, a lot of vitamins and minerals come to mind. From anti-oxidants to Vitamin A and B5, Mother Earth has a whole lot to offer when it comes to combating the signs of aging. One thing that you might not think of right away though is copper. Believe it or not, copper is an amazing element that can tighten your skin and even restore it to its natural, youthful glow!

“This is the best anti-aging product in the drugstore! It addresses most concerns associated with premature aging of the skin including tone, texture, wrinkles and discoloration by containing the right combination of ingredients. This product has been evaluated in clinical trials — in fact, one study published in the British Journal of Dermatology showed that it was as effective as Renova (an FDA-approved prescription product for the treatment of wrinkles).
You deserve a pat on the back if you’re already using eye cream, but that brings us to our next question—are you using the right eye cream? It’s important to make sure that in addition to providing hydration, your product pick is helps to reduce the appearance of under-eye bags. Try the L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Eye Cream which can help minimize the appearance of puffiness.
One recurring theme you will notice in most wrinkle creams is an intense hydration component. That’s because most visible damage can be attributed to a dehydrated skin, and the simple act of properly re-hydrating can have a huge impact. As years go on, your skin is more difficult to keep hydrated, and the hyaluronic acid in this cream acts to repair dehydrated and damaged skin tissue.
"I ordered this stuff in December 2016 and have been using it under my eyes, between my eyebrows, around my mouth and nose, and on my neck. I put this on after I shower almost once every day, rarely skip a day. I noticed I have had to use it for quite a while but it has done amazing things. The skin tone under my eyes has gained so much elasticity I am blown away to tell you the truth. I never expected such a good outcome because I have used other products and they simply did not live up to what they said their products would do ... I can say without any doubt that this product has vastly improved the condition of my skin where I have placed it." —Hope K.

It can be tempting to layer on lots of cream, especially if you’re excited about trying out a new product. But everyone's sensitivity to retinol and AHAs is different, so it’s best to be cautious until you know how well your skin will tolerate the product. Dr. Ford recommends a graduated approach: “We tell our patients to begin using retinol on Mondays and Thursdays for a few weeks, then up it to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a few more weeks, and eventually you’ll just be taking weekends off. Some people can tolerate these products every day of the week.”
When you think of ageless beauty, one celebrity comes to mind: Cindy Crawford. The author of several books about anti-aging and aging gracefully, Cindy Crawford has quickly become a household name in the ever-growing beauty industry. It’s no surprise then that Cindy Crawford would come out with her own fabulous line of skincare products, including this Meaningful Beauty Beyond skin cream.
Smoking reduces the oxygen flow to our skin cells, dumps a huge number of chemicals in our body and strips the good nutrients like vitamin C. It causes our blood vessels to narrow – known as vasoconstriction – which limits the oxygen flowing to our skin cells as well as other areas of the body. This means that cell processes cannot complete efficiently, resulting in your skin being less healthy and less resilient. It will be more prone to fine lines and wrinkles that form in areas you use for regular expressions – such as smile lines and lines spreading from your lips as you purse them around a cigarette.
I saw all of the reviews and thought this would be great to buy. I only had a couple lines under and around my eyes so I thought it would work great for that. After 2 months I notice absolutely no difference. I noticed it seems very oily. My face would look so greasy after applying and it felt gross when I woke up in the morning. I did shake it vigorously before each use but it still seemed oily. Maybe I received a bad jar but I doubt it based upon some of the other reviews I read. I will definitely look elsewhere for a different product as this one was simply not worth the money.
Ummm... perhaps it's time you re-educate yourself on the newest medical literature. Nutrition-based science has totally debunked the cholesterol myth. And don't take my word for it, all the biggest names in nutrition agree that eggs are very good for overall human health. This includes Dr David Perlmutter, biohacker Dave Asprey (of Bulletproof fame), writer Michael Pollan, Dr Mark Hyman, Dr Weil, Dr Joseph Mercola... the list is long and exhaustive.

"Caffeinated tea, which contains natural tannins, is a mild diuretic and long used by grandmothers and runway models for reducing eye puffiness. Soak two tea bags in warm water, then chill the bags for a few minutes in the refrigerator. Place one tea bag on each eye for five minutes, and your eyes will feel fresh and look brighter," says Karen Hammerman, a dermatologist in New York City.
Vichy is considered the number 1 brand in European pharmacies, and even a dermatologist to celebrities names it as one of her favorite French skincare brands. Vichy products are highly effective and luxurious, yet an affordable product, infusing mineralizing volcanic thermal water to help improve your skin’s resilience. This is clean, safe and the properties have been respected for centuries! It promises safe, effective formulas to give you strong, healthy skin – what more could you ask for?
Limit blue light exposure at night. Recent studies reveal that blue light emitted by electronic devices damages your skin perhaps even more so than UV. It also disrupts your sleep cycle–all in all, I notice that staring into my laptop late at night spells disaster for my eye area the next morning. Activate warm-light display on your laptop and phone after sundown. Close your electronics as early as possible at night and read a book instead, if you need to wind down!
A type of eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty may help eliminate bags under the eyes, depending on their cause. During this outpatient procedure, the eye surgeon creates an incision under the lashes or inside the lower lid. The surgeon removes excess fat through the incision and sometimes removes extra skin, then closes the incisions with tiny stitches.

Whenever you find yourself shopping around for a new wrinkle-fighting and age-defying Super Product, one factor stands out above the rest: results. Sure, we all love a sweet-smelling formula or a list of ingredients comparable to our favorite salad but, at the end of the day, does any of that really matter if you’re still plagued by crow’s feet and fine lines?

If noticing some fine lines sent you straight into a frenzy of Googling anti-aging solutions, you're in the right place. These picks include preventative solutions (like retinol-powered all-stars), formulas for fast results (thanks to elasticity-boosting ingredients), and even some all-natural products that'll help prevent and smooth the appearance of wrinkles.

Alas, under-eye bags are not a feature that improves with age. Now, many people get dark circles when they have a bad night’s sleep–occasionally, but not severely. I’ve had a combination of under-eye bags *and* dark circles since college. If you’re wondering what that even looks like, imagine curtain valances (the half-moon drapes that top your curtains). Thank you, Dad.

The NuFace Collagen Booster with Copper Complex is especially great for those suffering from lackluster or dull skin which, let’s be honest, can happen to even the best of us every now and then. Over time, the pollutants, chemicals, and harsh radicals that our skin come into contact with each and every day can wear down the natural glow of our skin, making those pesky wrinkles that much more noticeable.
The classic home remedy of tea bags has been used to treat under-eye bags for years. The caffeine provided by the tea constricts the blood vessels around the eye, reducing puffiness, while the tannins help to decrease swelling and discolouration. Good for removing dark shadows, this treatment is best used when you’re out of product and need a quick fix. Just place two used tea bags in the refrigerator for half an hour before applying to closed eyes for 10 minutes.
What can you do? There’s not a lot you can do for bags, though fillers may help raise the skin to counteract sagginess. Essentially, these fillers elevate the surrounding skin to the level of the fat to make the texture smooth and uniform again. Radiofrequency treatment is another alternative to tighten and smooth the area. The procedure heats the skin to induce collagen and elastin formation. Dr. Engelman recommends four rounds per treatment, and once a year maintenance. Each session costs around $500 to $600.

You’ll notice many of the anti-aging products that rank high up in Amazon’s best-rated section feature an ingredient called hyaluronic acid. If you’re unfamiliar with the substance, it’s a natural hydrator for the skin that’s particularly skilled at drawing in and holding moisture. Other familiar anti-aging go-tos that show up in Amazon’s top-rated products are retinol, which promotes skin cell turnover, Vitamins C and E, and natural extracts.

The vasoconstriction from products with caffeine can reduce puffiness, and cooling products can help reduce inflammation and promote blood flow. But keep in mind that any benefit you see is temporary. A metal roller ball—either on its own or as the applicator of an eye cream or serum—can gently distribute lymphatic build-up, helping it drain from underneath the eyes while also cooling the inflammation.
Luckily, there are a slew of skincare products on the market right now that work to fight the peskiest of under-eye bags—no matter their cause. According to Shereene Idriss, M.D., of Union Square Laser Dermatology in New York, anyone looking to de-puff swollen eyes should opt for creams and treatments that contain caffeine, green tea extract, or antioxidants like vitamin C for the best (and fastest) results. "These ingredients work to constrict the superficial vasculature, which results in less swelling," she says.
There are other, cream-free ways to get rid of under-eye bags as well. For one, watch your salt intake. Consuming sodium encourages your body to retain fluids, thereby making you look more puffy all over. (This phenomenon even has a name: “sushi face”). Light massage, either with your fingers or a jade roller, could help as well. Not only does the massage stimulate blood circulation, but a refrigerated jade roller incorporates a “cooling effect” that clinical trials suggest might help with under-eye bags.
Great box, horrible customer service. I cancelled my subscription online, but there is no way to remove your information online. So, they charged me again, even after my lengthy conversation with their phone rep who even convinced me not to cancel-just to suspend for 6 months. I'm cancelling now! I'm going through my credit card to dispute the charge and filing a BBB complaint. If you want this box, just get it through Amazon.
Under-eye bags may be common, but data on how this condition develops is scarce.49 Many of the home remedies mentioned above may be easy to follow, but proper guidance from your health care provider is necessary for those to take effect. Make sure that you know the cause of your under-eye bags so that you’ll know which method is right for your condition.

“I started researching natural skin lines a few years ago when I was looking to replace my underperforming hydrating gel. That’s when I discovered this gel and serum combo. I was initially attracted to the hypoallergenic and non-toxic nature of these two products, but after I tested them, I was immediately drawn to their silky texture and smooth application — and their results.
Under-eye bags are a common cosmetic condition where dark circles form just below your lower eyelids. Though not particularly stylish, these bags are typically harmless and caused by things like age, allergies, and a lack of sleep. If you want to get rid of your under-eye bags, there are a number of short-term, long-term, and cosmetic solutions at your disposal.

Our favorite part of this wrinkle cream is that it warns you (in the directions) to be careful of the sun while using this product. It points out that retinol makes skin particularly sensitive to the sun’s harmful UV rays and recommends that you wear additional sunscreen. That’s the first we’ve seen such a warning, and even if it’s just precaution, we appreciate the care for safety.
Vitamin B3, also known as niacinamide, is a skincare essential that’s often forgotten. It can be used to brighten your complexion, reduce inflammation, and keep water from leaving your skin’s protective barrier. Niacinamide helps decrease inflammation of the skin and lower overall redness of the skin, says Dr. Tzu. Research suggests it may also help aid in fading fine lines and wrinkles, amp up your skin’s luminosity, and get rid of dry patches and blotchy areas. Niacinamide has also been found to help prevent and clear up acne, whether it’s hormonal or cystic, research suggests.
I am a subscriber to It cosmetics, I like it because the makeup itself is light and provides full coverage without caking and it looks fresh all day and I have never heard of the other listed makeup boxes. I like that I can choose how many items I want and which items I receive and pay for it over 3 months. I also like that I know what I am getting and can order what I want or need, that they are also coming out with new products and expanding the line so you need to check with the website if you need or want something else. But the price is a little high, and they do not have online ordering to change and update what you receive. You have to call them but the customer service people were very knowledgeable, professional and accommodating. They say you can cancel at any time.

According to WebMD, collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin. So while some of the products we have reviewed contain collagen as one of their ingredients, this will likely work more towards helping your skin to retain its moisture, which can still have fantastic anti-aging benefits. However, as well as providing and helping your skin to retain moisture, pro-collagen creams can encourage your skin to increase its natural collagen production – firming it and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. These pro-collagen creams can be very successful, and some even promise results within a few weeks!
Hyaluronic acid, a humectant that holds up to 1000 times its weight in water, can "plump" wrinkled skin, giving it the appearance of diminished wrinkles. A top anti-wrinkle eye cream, Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Intensive Eye Contour Cream contains Super Bio Hyaluronic Acid N for intense moisture; it also has burnet extract to revitalize cells and counteract loss of firmness.
I’m happy to see that there are several of you that are loving the spoilers for January. Now I loved the December box but I’m definitely not feeling the January or the February box lol. I’m not complaining because I know come March I may love the box. It’s a subscription box you can’t make everyone happy 100% of the time and you know what I accept that and I am ok with that. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!
