One of the best items to invest in is a good anti-aging cream or moisturizer. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends beginning with a sunscreen and moisturizer to help offset premature skin aging. Once you find a product that works for your skin type, the AAD also advises taking advantage of its consumer hotline (check the product label) to ask questions about whether the product you’re considering is hypoallergenic and doesn’t cause acne.
The best bang for your buck, No7 worked as well as or better than pricier options. This Good Housekeeping Seal-holder scored nearly on par with the winner and earned the best marks for smoothing skin's texture. Testers described it as "lightweight," and said the serum made skin "look younger" and wrinkles "less visible," though some reported slight irritation. In our lab analysis, it received strong scores for improving firmness and texture and diminishing pores.
If you're looking for extra moisture that will last while you sleep, you'll find your match with this product. Light in feel (and price!), this gel-like L'Oréal cream received high marks for firming and moisturizing. In the Good Housekeeping Institute's test, it led to a 36% uptick in skin's firmness in four weeks, plus a 40% rise in moisturization.
If you're into essential oils, you'll be happy to know there are several oils that combat under-eye puffiness and dark circles. Try mixing an essential oil with coconut oil and rubbing it under your eyes. Rose geranium, fennel, lavender, German chamomile and rosemary essential oil are hailed as the best essential oils for getting rid of under-eye bags.
The Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is packed with all sorts of goodies, but its best feature by far lies in the results. Unlike other collagen or wrinkle creams on the market today that can take months to take effect, Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Marine Cream has been shown to improve your skin’s firmness and reduce wrinkle depth in as little as 15 days! This is a huge advantage if you have a special occasion quickly approaching on your calendar (hello springtime wedding season!) and if you want to look your absolute best.
So disgusted!!! I've only had this subscription for 3 months (May being the third month) and all 3 months I've had to contact customer service! The first month- it was 3 weeks after my payment posted to my bank account before I received an email stating my box was shipped and on its way. They said that's how it goes with the first months box. So ok. Then the second month, April, the money is posted to my account. When you sign up it states onces the money is withdrawn from your bank account, once it posts you will receive an email stating it has shipped. So 3-4 days go by still no email. A week. Still no email. Once again almost 3 weeks go by before I receive an email that the box has even shipped! They tell me sorry for the delay, I write back saying, "yes I see that there is a delay, but why is there such a delay? When you order it states once the money is posted in your account you will receive an email about shipping, not several weeks later" no reply back. So this month (May) I check my bank account and I notice that they double charged me. Once on May 11th and again on May 14th. I write them about this double charge asking to be reimbursed. Later that day (may 16th) there is a reversal charge and the money is put back into my account. They get back to me on the 18th stating that "there was only one charge which was May 11th which is for my beauty box and that their records show no charge on May 14th!!! So I wrote them back and told them that is strange because I can see it right on my account. I took pictures of both charges with the dates as well as the reversal charge and told them I don't know how it was taken care of but thankfully it was because it doesn't sound like I would of received much help!!! I am seriously debating cancelling my subscription. I do like the products which is why I gave this review one star! Let's see when i receive the email about shipping! As of today it has been a week since the payment was posted to my bank account!!!
The vasoconstriction from products with caffeine can reduce puffiness, and cooling products can help reduce inflammation and promote blood flow. But keep in mind that any benefit you see is temporary. A metal roller ball—either on its own or as the applicator of an eye cream or serum—can gently distribute lymphatic build-up, helping it drain from underneath the eyes while also cooling the inflammation.
I don’t think Sunday Riley does much of anything either. Used that C cream, lactic serum, luna oil. It does nothing. I usually use much more clinical brands or spa brands that actually work, so that may be why (Skin Medica/Glymed/Revision, etc). Anything department store brand, or drugstore brand has much lower %s of active ingredient and takes much longer to show any result.

And they wanted in—or really, I wanted them to want in. I would do those fitness supplement–peddling Ponzi schemes proud with my insistence that my friends, family, and co-workers try dermarolling themselves. But then again, it’s probably easier to convince someone to try a protein shake than roll hundreds of tiny needles into her face. That’s fair.

At the most basic level, Retinoids are a class of chemicals that help promote collagen production. Usually applied topically or taken orally, Retinoids and Retinol Creams help to stimulate your body’s natural production of collagen to reverse the signs of aging that often accompany collagen loss. Chemically, Retinoids are chemically related to vitamins (usually Vitamin A), which have been found to promote collagen production.
This serum focuses on the retinol contained within, because that is the ingredient that will stimulate the collagen production and therefore tighten your skin. But the other ingredients included in this serum will have an equally noticeable effect. The hyaluronic acid will hydrate your skin for an incredible length of time and that will leave you seeing smoothed out wrinkles and plumped skin. The aloe vera and Vitamin E will protect your skin from harmful UV rays and provide antioxidants to fight off free radical damage.
I’m happy to see that there are several of you that are loving the spoilers for January. Now I loved the December box but I’m definitely not feeling the January or the February box lol. I’m not complaining because I know come March I may love the box. It’s a subscription box you can’t make everyone happy 100% of the time and you know what I accept that and I am ok with that. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year!
Truth is, your eye puffiness and darkness could be inherited. "The undereye area is one of the thinner areas and is easily neglected in basic skin care," says Paul Jarrod Frank, a cosmetic dermatologist in New York City. "There is a strong genetic component to dark circles, which is out of people’s control." Womp, womp. Yes, much of the reason you have those circles is that of your parents' own thin skin (thanks, Mom). Sometimes you have them because of an increase in pigment in that area. But don't run to the doctor asking for a pricey laser or needle treatment. Below are ways to minimize the appearance of those circles that won't cost you an arm or a leg. These affordable tips go way beyond putting cucumbers on your eyes.

It was pretty eye-opening (wink) to learn the differences between bags and puffy eyes and dark circles, since so many of us think we have them—even when sometimes we don't. I'm quite aware that $100 eye creams aren't for everyone (ditto for $1,000 fillers and other medical cosmetic procedures!), and for my own purposes, I'm likely going to stick with my already fairly intensive skincare regimen, rather than adding new products to the mix. I will rely on color correcting makeup and concealers when I'm looking for a quick bandaid for what seems to be a fact of life for most of us.
We decided to call in the experts. First, we lined up in a conference room and took pictures of our tired-looking eyes—first thing in the morning, and makeup free. Then I called up a couple dermatologists and asked them to review the photos and tell me what we were looking at. I’m not saying that we needed to be diagnosed or that we had “problems” that needed to be “fixed.” But we knew we had these things that bothered us, and we wanted to learn about what we were working with, and what tricks we could use to minimize their appearance. The dermatologists I spoke to explained what makes eyes puffy, what causes dark circles, and what so-called bags even are. They pointed out the telltale signs in our photos, and gave their expert recommendations for how to treat them.
“Although there are many factors that influence under eye bags such as genetics, allergies, medical conditions, UV radiation exposure, sleep, hydration, salt, and alcohol consumption, there is another simple factor that can influence how the skin appears around the eyes and that is how sugar can impact your skin,” says Dr. Sue Ann Wee of Schweiger Dermatology Group in NYC. The new year is a perfect time to kickstart a healthy diet and remove (or at least cut back) sugar from your diet.
Designed to be applied at bedtime, the Meaningful Beauty Beyond repairing cream is an excellent complement to your current skincare routine. Whether you’re trying to stave off fine lines in your 20’s or tackling decades-old wrinkles well into your 70’s, incorporating a great night cream like this one into your daily routine is a small favor your skin will surely thank you for later!
This wrinkle cream is gentle enough that it’s sure to not clog your pores. For particularly sensitive skin, you may want to wait 10-15 minutes after cleansing to apply the cream though, just to ensure the products don’t combine to create an irritant. The collagen and alpha hydroxy acids will smooth your wrinkles and lines in as little as two weeks.

We've raved about Mad Hippie's budget-friendly vitamin C serum in the past, but their Antioxidant Facial Oil shouldn't be overlooked either. Powerful ingredients like organic argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, and sea buckthorn berry extract are packed in the vegan formula. Apply a few drops with the vitamin C serum (followed by sunscreen, of course) for a moisture-rich combo that will leave skin silky smooth.

A type of eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty may help eliminate bags under the eyes, depending on their cause. During this outpatient procedure, the eye surgeon creates an incision under the lashes or inside the lower lid. The surgeon removes excess fat through the incision and sometimes removes extra skin, then closes the incisions with tiny stitches.
Nope, no shipping email or info even though I was charged. I emailed customer service who, a week later, sent a canned response saying I’ll get tracking when it ships, in the mean time log into my account. Completely useless info. My account says update payment method (I paid w first box using PayPal) and I don’t want to put a credit card number in and mess anything up, especially since I already paid. Anyone else know what’s going on in this situation? Do others accounts show the order and status, such as “processing” or anything?
Genetics do play a big role. If you’ve “always” had them or since a young age, you have probably inherited them. But other factors such as lack of sleep and lack of hydration will make them worse. Also, if you don’t wear sunglasses, your dark circles may actually be hyperpigmentation. Finally, as you age, the decrease in collagen under your thin skin will make the blood vessels more visible–hence making this area look darker.
I ordered the August box on 8/18. I received it today, 9/20. Yes, a whole month later. I canceled my subscription because I thought it would make little sense to have to be billed for a 2nd box before I got the first. Customer service didn't seem bothered when I told them why I was canceling but cared enough to offer me a subscription to Allure magazine, at my expense. Um, I'll pass. Upon arrival, the box was stained and wet, thanks to two of the samples that opened inside. One of the products I received wasn't advertised as being in the box but they were sweet enough to include a detailed description of the item I didn't get.

Lymphatic massage the whole face. This is a huge one–I can’t stress the importance of this enough. Recently I got a Radio Frequency (RF) facial, which vibrates the skin to promote lymphatic drainage and boost collagen, and my facialist said that it reduces under-eye bags as well. Lo and behold, she was right. This doesn’t mean you have to get RF facials every night, but that you can do the self-massage routine at home to mucho effect. Your under-eyes don’t exist by themselves–they’re connected to the rest of your face. To DIY, pump plenty of lotion or cream of your choice (I use Herin Beauty Omega-3 Cream, great for repair) and dot your cheeks, chin, forehead, neck, and decolletage. Use 2-3 fingers of both hands to do circular strokes lifting up and out from the center of your face. Note: You can use firmer strokes as long as you don’t tug the top layer of your skin. Think of it as gently massaging the muscles of your face rather than skimming the surface. You’ll know you did it right if you feel a refreshed, “just-worked-out” sensation all over. 2x a day.

“This serum was created as an alternative to hydroquinone for people suffering from brown spots and fine lines. But it’s safe to use long term because it doesn’t bleach the surrounding skin. It’s also packed with powerful anti-aging ingredients like kojic acid and licorice root extract, which fight free radicals that damage collagen. I just love this product and my friends and patients love it, too! It can be applied once or twice a day, just be sure to use sunscreen with this product,” says Dr. Dina Strachan, M.D., a New York City-based dermatologist.
“This is the best anti-aging product in the drugstore! It addresses most concerns associated with premature aging of the skin including tone, texture, wrinkles and discoloration by containing the right combination of ingredients. This product has been evaluated in clinical trials — in fact, one study published in the British Journal of Dermatology showed that it was as effective as Renova (an FDA-approved prescription product for the treatment of wrinkles).
These types of alcohol evaporate very quickly. This can have some benefits, but it also means that it dries out your skin, weakening its protective barrier. Percentages of alcohol concentrate are rarely listed on lists of ingredients, but a good rule of thumb is to check how far up they are mentioned. The higher up the list, typically the greater the concentration of that ingredient.
You may need to shop around some to find the right wrinkle cream for you. We aim to make that process a bit simpler by rounding up 50 of the best, top-rated wrinkle creams available that, according to reviewers, actually work. We’ve listed our picks below in alphabetical order for easy reference. Ratings are based on Amazon reviews and are current at the time of this publication.
We began our search for the best wrinkle cream by pulling top-sellers from major retailers like Walgreens, Amazon, and Target, compiling a list of 112 creams, gels, and serums — everything from high end brands like Estee Lauder and Lancome to drugstore staples like Neutrogena and L’Oreal. From here, we reached out to cosmetic chemists and dermatologists: We wanted to find out which ingredients would help skin look youthful, and which weren’t worth the hype.
Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, fights free radicals, a byproduct of cell metabolism in your body. Free radicals are thought to attack proteins, fats and DNA -- and break down collagen, leading to lines and wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle eye creams that include vitamin C are top in the anti-aging category because of their ability to minimize lines, while firming and brightening skin. Dermatologist formulated Murad Essential-C Eye Cream SPF 15 is a top anti-wrinkle eye cream, featuring a patented anti-aging formula.

I got the Bliss too although I’m not crazy about any bliss products. There’s something in them that my skin doesn’t like. I always like my Allure boxes. I think they mix it up better than the rest. I cancelled sephora play right after I got December’s awful box, the worst of the year! I never complain that about most boxes because seriously, they don’t cost alot.
