One recurring theme you will notice in most wrinkle creams is an intense hydration component. That’s because most visible damage can be attributed to a dehydrated skin, and the simple act of properly re-hydrating can have a huge impact. As years go on, your skin is more difficult to keep hydrated, and the hyaluronic acid in this cream acts to repair dehydrated and damaged skin tissue.

Exfoliating alpha and beta hydroxy acids meet nourishing passionfruit extract in this dual-purpose cream. At work in the moisturizing department? Hyaluronic acid. "Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it draws water to the skin," says Emily Arch, M.D., a dermatologist at Dermatology + Aesthetics in Chicago. It then holds onto that moisture instantly—yes, the effects are immediate—making skin look and feel more hydrated and plump. Gentle enough to use every night, it works equally well on normal, dry, oily, or combination skin types (since hyaluronic acid is deeply hydrating yet still lightweight enough that it won't feel greasy).
The very best way to tackle wrinkles is to prevent them in the first place. Everyone we spoke to — dermatologists and chemists alike — noted that the most important wrinkle-fighting product you should own is sunscreen. And not just any sunscreen: a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 (as we learned when reviewing the best sunscreen). Stick with SPF 30; wear it every single day; and reapply as often as the instructions tell you to.
Having been blessed with mixed skin, I have struggled to find the right facial cream for my skin type. In fact, up until recently I all but gave up on finding the right product as one after the other would yield disspoainting results (e.g. cause breakouts or just stay on like a slimy film). My friend recommended this product to me, and I am so glad I gave it a shot. The cream applies super easily and dries so so fast. Skin feels rejuvenated. I apply it before going to bed, and it's my new favorite nightly ritual. Highly recommend you give it a try, I will order again!

There are different kinds of retinoids, and they vary in strength. As cosmetic chemist Kevin Gallagher explained, this strength comes with a trade-off: the stronger the retinoid, the faster it works — and the harsher it is on skin. The strongest retinoids are only available with a prescription. But that’s not to say over-the-counter formulations are ineffective. A three-month, double-blind, randomized study of 34 women showed there was no significant difference in efficacy between an over-the-counter 1.1 percent retinol cream and 0.025 percent prescription tretinoin. In short: Retinoids work.
I have not received my box yet either. No tracking yet…nothing. They did take their payment for the box they made sure of that. Allure really dropped the ball in January. I did receive the email about late shipping and I spoke with Customer Service twice but they could not provide me with any shipping info they just advised me that I would be getting the January Box. I love Allure but Customer Service is always their downfall. So maybe in March I’ll get my January Box who knows lol

Retinoids remain one of the tried-and-true ingredients worth incorporating into your p.m. routine (they can be rendered inactive by the sun, making it important to reserve them for the overnight hours). This treatment marks the first time adapalene, a type of retinoid previously available by prescription only, has been available OTC. Its collagen-boosting benefits make it choice for smoothing wrinkles, while its skin-clearing benefits make it a good choice for clearing pimples. "It's highly effective in keeping pores open and minimizing breakouts, and is better tolerated than most retinoids," points out Dendy Engelman, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist in New York City.
Animal testing in the beauty industry is an international travesty that really shouldn’t be a part of our beauty dialogue anymore. If, like us, the idea of innocent creatures being tortured and even killed for the latest and greatest beauty products makes you angry, look no further than Baebody. This company manufactures this moisturizer in the USA and does not test its products on animals.
I received the peel off mask in my box and it nearly took off my skin. It was like peeling a giant band aid off of my face. I could have used the Ren after that experience. Straight in the trash with that one. I wish Alkure would offer a “skip a month” option… I could have lived without the Decenver box. I want the January for Sunday Riley. And I am so-so on February. They did promise extra sample sizes in boxes from January, so I will hang in for another month
Peptides are the star of the show here, namely an amino-peptide complex, that penetrates 10 layers deep to help skin cells. "Peptides act as signaling mechanisms that tell the body to produce more collagen," says Dhaval Bhanusali, M.D., a dermatologist based in New York City. (As a reminder, collagen is the protein responsible for strong, firm, youthful skin, so more collagen equals fewer wrinkles. But this cream doesn't stop there; it also gently exfoliates and hydrates.
★VITAMIN C and RETINOL – Produced as a naturally occurring organic compound Ascorbic Acid is an anti-oxidant Vitamin C that is an essential nutrient in the production of collagen in the skin. We use Retinyl Palmitate which breaks down into Retinol as it absorbs into the skin, as this reduces the risk of adverse reaction that sometimes occurs to the concentrated form of Retinol.

Now, I know there’s nothing productive about sitting around complaining about “flaws” that aren’t actually flaws. We are aware of the way we’ve internalized idealized standards of beauty—and that articles about how to “fix” them can reinforce those standards. (The irony is not lost on me as I write this very article.) And yet there we were, comparing notes about our particular eye concerns, wondering what was causing them and what we could do about them, when suddenly we realized: We don’t actually know what we’re talking about. One person said she had “puffy eyes.” Another rued the “bags” under hers. We thought we were all talking about the same thing, but maybe we weren’t. We started to wonder: What are puffy eyes versus bags versus dark circles, anyway? And which ones were we actually complaining about?
“Brands can’t just ship the same things over and over and expect to ride the coattails of this subscription success trend either,” Tzuo said. “In addition to demanding immediate, ongoing fulfillment, customers today want to be happily surprised on a regular basis. And if brands don’t meet those expectations, they get dropped, not to mention trashed on social media. It’s that simple.”
We’ve talked a lot about warding off wrinkles with creams, but what if you’ve taken a more drastic approach. Look, we aren’t here to judge. For many people, plastic surgery and cosmetics procedures are the perfect way to fight the signs of aging in a fast and sure-fire way. If you have recently undergone a cosmetic procedure, then you know just how important it is to find topical products that are safe to use on your skin post-procedure.

I have never had such an issue so early on with like… any company. Not like this. Toward the end of my emails I just told them to please cancel my subscription I don’t care about January. God knows what’s going to happen now. I kind of would like the Jan. box because I want to try Sunday Riley, but the amount of issues going on over there I’m thinking it’s best to just end things now.

I got an email on the 20th saying I will not be getting this months box because I updated my credit card info. I updated my info on January 2, 2020 and they waited until January 20th to email me I am so not happy. I had to update my credit card because I was hacked over Christmas. I didn’t think when you updated online it takes them almost a month to process. Next time I’ll call if I did I probably would be getting my box.
Mine supposedly shipped yesterday. I’m so excited for it! I went ahead and ordered it because I had seen several people unbox it on YouTube. The value of the products is unbelievable for January. My theory is that allure had so many unsatisfied customers and cancellations from all the issues last year that they’re going to work really hard to bring those customers back this year. I think their goal is to make things right again and I predict some really good boxes in our future. I could be wrong but let’s hope not. 🤞
Vitamin B3, also known as niacinamide, is a skincare essential that’s often forgotten. It can be used to brighten your complexion, reduce inflammation, and keep water from leaving your skin’s protective barrier. Niacinamide helps decrease inflammation of the skin and lower overall redness of the skin, says Dr. Tzu. Research suggests it may also help aid in fading fine lines and wrinkles, amp up your skin’s luminosity, and get rid of dry patches and blotchy areas. Niacinamide has also been found to help prevent and clear up acne, whether it’s hormonal or cystic, research suggests.

"It’s also the most cosmetically elegant sunscreen I have ever used. It rubs in easily, doesn’t feel greasy, doesn’t clog pores and is compatible with my moisturizer and makeup. I apply it in the morning to any exposed skin and wear it every day, no matter the weather because I never want to be caught unprotected from the sun. It’s also great to apply before a flight, as UVA rays can penetrate airplane windows,” says Dr. Amy Wechsler, M.D., assistant clinical professor in dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Featuring clinically tested and patented ingredients, Prototype 37-C easily takes our #2 spot. Another study shared information regarding use of a topical serum containing epidermal growth factor (EGF) and its ability to minimize the appearance of under-eye bags. Sixteen subjects were tested and all but two subjects reported improvement at their final visit. Improvement was quantified as 76–100 percent by two subjects, 50–75 percent by three subjects and 25–49 percent by nine subjects. Eleven subjects claimed that the bags under their eyes were definitely milder at the end of the trial compared to the first visit. Seven subjects reported greater satisfaction with their overall facial appearance.
Bags under eyes can include mild swelling, saggy or loose skin and/or dark circles. While you may not like the way these bags look, they are usually harmless and do not require medical attention; however, if you experience severe and persistent bags accompanied by redness, itching or pain, you may want to see your doctor. Also, if you notice redness, itching or pain on other parts of your body, such as your legs, you could be having an allergic reaction and need medical attention. Your doctor will want to rule out other possible causes that can contribute to the swelling, such as thyroid disease or an infection.
UVB rays are the main cause of sunburn and reddening. It has different strengths during different seasons, times of day and location, but it can burn and damage your skin all year. It may not penetrate glass as much as UVA rays do, but as much as 80% of UVB rays bounce off reflective surfaces such as snow. It is also a contributing factor to premature aging from sun damage.
If you need to minimize the appearance of dark circles and under-eye bags STAT, cooling down the area is one solution. Cucumber slices, potato slices, gel eye masks, cold wash rags, and even cold spoons can do the trick. Whatever you choose, leave it on for ten to twenty minutes and give it a chance to really soothe the skin under surrounding your eyes. Applying something cool to your eyes is especially effective at reducing constricting swollen under-eye blood vessels.
Nope, no shipping email or info even though I was charged. I emailed customer service who, a week later, sent a canned response saying I’ll get tracking when it ships, in the mean time log into my account. Completely useless info. My account says update payment method (I paid w first box using PayPal) and I don’t want to put a credit card number in and mess anything up, especially since I already paid. Anyone else know what’s going on in this situation? Do others accounts show the order and status, such as “processing” or anything?
I've been using the cream for about a year, and have really liked it. Honestly, I had real doubts about whether any of this stuff really worked, and let's face it: nothing really holds back time. But I have to admit: I think it has helped reduce some of the lines on my forehead, and on the rest of my face it's left my skin feeling really healthy and smooth. I've been using it as part of a routine with the night serum (which I also really like), and have been using the day serum/face moisturizer in the morning as well (the day serum may be the best of all of their products). When you put it all together, I think it's been worth the money (and I originally thought that $40 for a 2oz jar was INSANE: but what I didn't realize is that a 2oz jar lasts 4-6 months (or more), so really, the cost isn't a big deal. I just don't think men realize how to use this stuff: it's really a tiny amount each day).

What causes them? Though you might hear the word “bags” used interchangeably with “dark circles” or “puffy eyes,” these distinct under-eye pouches are markedly different from either one. This structural puffiness is caused by a combination of fat herniation and skin laxity—they’re genetic and a normal sign of aging. They can appear as early as your late-20s or 30s—but apparently none of the SELFies who complained about bags actually have them, because the docs didn’t diagnose any instances of bagginess in our photos.
I’ve had Allure for a year. In that time frame there have only been 2 boxes that were like the Feb box looks. So I can handle that, bc all other months are freaking amazing for $15. Just wanted to mention this, but you can also SKIP a month, not be billed for it, see the next month’s spoilers here, and continue with that next months box without having to cancel and re-subscribe if you’re wanting the March box. =)
Like creams, serums can be easy to use and highly effective, depending on the formula. Some serums use botanical antioxidants to treat under eye bags. The antioxidants help to prevent collagen damage, maintain the skin’s elasticity and brighten skin pigmentation. Others contain hyaluronic acid or retinol. Retinol, while highly useful for fighting wrinkles and producing collagen, can be harsh on the sensitive eye area, so always test it first. No matter which serum you pick, try to choose one in a rollerball tube for an easy application that also helps disperse fluid build-up.

Remember the book that took the 90’s by storm; Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus? Well, when it comes to daily skincare, for most men, this couldn’t be closer to the truth. Sadly, a daily skincare regime isn’t exactly at the top of most men’s daily to-do lists, despite the fact that yes, just like women, men get fine lines and wrinkles with age.

I subscribed on Dec. 8th, 2018. Allure charged my bank account that very same day. No delays there. I understood that they ship boxes the third week of the month, and that is when I received my tracking number. Note: They also say, you will be billed on the same day of month as when you sign up. I received my December 2018 box on December 24th, which was a great day... Christmas Eve. As I was looking at the "new to me" subscription box as a Christmas present to myself. So this was my first Allure box ever. My box arrived with one item in it...damaged.
For best results thoroughly cleanse your face and apply a serum first and rub in until absorbed then take a small amount of the Anti Aging Cream on your finger and massage into your skin in a circular motion until it is fully rubbed in, if you need to add more, do so, a little at a time. Please make sure you Avoid direct contact with your eyes and do not swallow.
I signed up with the Sunday Riley deal and had issues with my account. I had a pending charge for weeks and it finally fell off. I called them and they said I didn’t have an account. I signed up again and they promised to send me the December box and the Sunday Riley. I have only received the January box and have a feeling they told me what I wanted to hear just to keep me signed up. I’ve read the horror stories on here and hoped I wouldn’t have the same experience.
You are paying for a sub box that is supposed to be a mystery with a value of $50 or more and 5 products. They don’t owe us any other spoilers or specific products, unless we sign up for a special deal like the S.R. promo or Caudalie. Lots of boxes do variations and some of them don’t release them until after it’s too late to cancel. Allure is giving variation info a full 2 weeks before the deadline to cancel. And they are giving us a bonus item…
I had a coupon from a friend so I was able to order the box for half price. I enjoyed trying the new products. There were makeup items and fingernail items. It had also more items than I expected. I really only expected 3 or 4 items in the box so I was happy to see so many different items. They were full sized items not just sample sized. This surprised me also. I like that you can cancel for just a month or two if you need to and you don't have to stop your subscription. But I disliked that I had no choice in the type of product or in the final selection. Some items were products that I have never used and will never use.
Did you know that smoking cigarettes dries out and weakens the skin on your face as well as your whole body? It also causes premature aging around the eyes in particular. The chemicals found in cigarettes are toxic and can cause irritation around the eyes, which could result in dark circles or undereye bags in addition to a wrinkled, droopy appearance. If addiction has got you in its grips, you may want to try some natural approaches to quitting smoking.
Polly, I have subscribed to tons of beauty boxes and at the moment have downsized my subs to just ALLURE and BOXYCHARM. At the moment, I have so much makeup that I think I may soon pause on boxycharm but I can NOT unsubscribe without my ALLURE. I agree, I always find at least a couple of items that are useful and make me break out of my ever expanding box…plus I just love the box!
