I got my CEO Serum last Friday. I was happy, considering that I never thought I was going to get it. I signed up for two boxes, at least through this month, because everything I’ve ever tried from Sunday Riley has worked great for my skin. I got an email this morning that confused me though – it was an update on my January box. In the preview of the gmail, it said that allure was sorry for the delay, processing a refund, and sending me a free box” but when I open the email, it says “your box should ship out next week”. Sooo which is which? I really don’t wanna get suckered out of the SR.
If noticing some fine lines sent you straight into a frenzy of Googling anti-aging solutions, you're in the right place. These picks include preventative solutions (like retinol-powered all-stars), formulas for fast results (thanks to elasticity-boosting ingredients), and even some all-natural products that'll help prevent and smooth the appearance of wrinkles.
For an affordable (but effective) nigh cream, RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive performed comparably to its much pricier counterpart when it came to moisturizing and firming. Visia results showed that it was effective at improving UV spots, while testers gave it top points for wrinkle reduction (especially on the forehead) and applauded its lightweight texture and easy absorption. "It's just the right weight for a night cream," said one. "Light enough to sink in, heavy enough to moisturize without causing breakouts." While most volunteers found these nonirritating, if you have problems, layer a plain moisturizer over your retinol night cream.
When we think of anti-aging cream ingredients, a lot of vitamins and minerals come to mind. From anti-oxidants to Vitamin A and B5, Mother Earth has a whole lot to offer when it comes to combating the signs of aging. One thing that you might not think of right away though is copper. Believe it or not, copper is an amazing element that can tighten your skin and even restore it to its natural, youthful glow!
Protect your skin from the sun. Exposure to UV light speeds up the natural aging process of your skin, causing wrinkles and rough, blotchy skin. In fact, sun exposure is the No. 1 reason for signs of aging in the skin, including uneven pigmentation. Protect your skin — and prevent future wrinkles — by limiting the time you spend in the sun and always wearing protective clothing and a hat. Also, use sunscreen on exposed skin year-round when outdoors.
Exfoliating alpha and beta hydroxy acids meet nourishing passionfruit extract in this dual-purpose cream. At work in the moisturizing department? Hyaluronic acid. "Hyaluronic acid is a humectant, meaning it draws water to the skin," says Emily Arch, M.D., a dermatologist at Dermatology + Aesthetics in Chicago. It then holds onto that moisture instantly—yes, the effects are immediate—making skin look and feel more hydrated and plump. Gentle enough to use every night, it works equally well on normal, dry, oily, or combination skin types (since hyaluronic acid is deeply hydrating yet still lightweight enough that it won't feel greasy).

Using this method, you can work out that higher SPF ratings don’t actually give you much more protection than medium SPF ratings. The Skin Cancer Foundation reports that SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB rays, SPF 30 blocks 97% and SPF 50 blocks 98%. While these differences seem insignificant, they can still make a great difference over time, especially if you have fair skin or a history of cancer.
“As the skin ages, its cellular turnover capabilities slow down. A gentle, weekly scrub promotes cell turnover and can help keep skin glowing and healthy-looking. Used once a week, this scrub gently exfoliates my skin without irritation and contains ingredients like lavender and probiotics to help calm things down. I have rosacea and I'm able to use this product without any issues. I consider it a nice wake up for my skin,” says Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, M.D., assistant clinical professor, Department of Dermatology at the George Washington University Medical Center.
If your eyes are swollen and puffy, try a cold compress. Not only can this help reduce puffy eyes, it can be very relaxing which adds to a youthful appearance. You can achieve this by using chilled spoons on top of your eyes, slices of cucumbers, or even chilled, dampened tea bags with a drop of lavender essential oil added. The cool temperature is what makes this home remedy effective.
There are different kinds of retinoids, and they vary in strength. As cosmetic chemist Kevin Gallagher explained, this strength comes with a trade-off: the stronger the retinoid, the faster it works — and the harsher it is on skin. The strongest retinoids are only available with a prescription. But that’s not to say over-the-counter formulations are ineffective. A three-month, double-blind, randomized study of 34 women showed there was no significant difference in efficacy between an over-the-counter 1.1 percent retinol cream and 0.025 percent prescription tretinoin. In short: Retinoids work.
There are other, cream-free ways to get rid of under-eye bags as well. For one, watch your salt intake. Consuming sodium encourages your body to retain fluids, thereby making you look more puffy all over. (This phenomenon even has a name: “sushi face”). Light massage, either with your fingers or a jade roller, could help as well. Not only does the massage stimulate blood circulation, but a refrigerated jade roller incorporates a “cooling effect” that clinical trials suggest might help with under-eye bags.

“Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can rid the skin of harmful free radicals,” says Dr. Tzu. Free radicals are damaging molecules that come from pollution, cigarette smoke and light. “Vitamin C is also an important cofactor for the synthesis of collagen [a protein that keeps skin elastic and helps skin cells renew themselves] and the structural foundation of the skin.”
Eye cream doesn't have to be costly to be effecting—take this RoC cream for example: It's not only super affordable at $23, it's made, tested, and approved for those with sensitive skin, so it won't irritate it, it also helps boost cell turnover for more youthful-looking eye skin thanks to the retinol it contains. Aside from that, it has hyaluronic acid in it to plump the thin skin around your eyes, naturally ironing out any fine lines. Bonus: Dr. Nazarian recommends this drugstore treatment to her patients, so you know it's good. Smooth a dab of the powerful formula under your eyes in the evening, and make sure to follow up with an SPF in the morning, since retinol can make you more prone to sunburns.
Mario Badescu’s Vital with Collagen and Elastin for Men is marketed specifically for men with dry skin which, let’s face it, makes sense since very few men are brought up to incorporate a moisturizer or mask routine into their daily lives. While this product is ideal for men with this drier skin type, it is unclear whether this cream was created with the combination or oily skin man in mind. Only time will tell whether this moisture-rich formula complements an oilier complexion.
Let’s get one myth out of the way: It really doesn’t hurt that much, especially when you’re the one in control. Dermatologists use something called a Dermapen for in-office treatments, and that’s a little more intense—bleeding is a common side effect. (That’s why they call it the “vampire” facial.) But a dermaroller is a little less hardcore, and you can press as hard as your pain threshold allows.
And they wanted in—or really, I wanted them to want in. I would do those fitness supplement–peddling Ponzi schemes proud with my insistence that my friends, family, and co-workers try dermarolling themselves. But then again, it’s probably easier to convince someone to try a protein shake than roll hundreds of tiny needles into her face. That’s fair.
You simply run the tool across your face in a stroking motion, and it sends microcurrents that sculpt and contour your muscles. "It's like putting on a pair of Spanx," says Zeichner. "It helps thicken the skin to better hold in the bulging fat below." You're more likely to see long-lasting results with consistent use, but the instantaneous lift is noticeable.
Genetics do play a big role. If you’ve “always” had them or since a young age, you have probably inherited them. But other factors such as lack of sleep and lack of hydration will make them worse. Also, if you don’t wear sunglasses, your dark circles may actually be hyperpigmentation. Finally, as you age, the decrease in collagen under your thin skin will make the blood vessels more visible–hence making this area look darker.
A cocktail of anti-aging plant extracts—for example, pea extract (a source of amino acids that make up your skin's structural proteins), crithmum (which acts like retinoic acid on skin), and anogeissus (that supports your body's natural fibrillin production, giving your skin a supple-looking bounce)—make this cream a perfect choice if your goal is a firmer and tighter complexion.
So disgusted!!! I've only had this subscription for 3 months (May being the third month) and all 3 months I've had to contact customer service! The first month- it was 3 weeks after my payment posted to my bank account before I received an email stating my box was shipped and on its way. They said that's how it goes with the first months box. So ok. Then the second month, April, the money is posted to my account. When you sign up it states onces the money is withdrawn from your bank account, once it posts you will receive an email stating it has shipped. So 3-4 days go by still no email. A week. Still no email. Once again almost 3 weeks go by before I receive an email that the box has even shipped! They tell me sorry for the delay, I write back saying, "yes I see that there is a delay, but why is there such a delay? When you order it states once the money is posted in your account you will receive an email about shipping, not several weeks later" no reply back. So this month (May) I check my bank account and I notice that they double charged me. Once on May 11th and again on May 14th. I write them about this double charge asking to be reimbursed. Later that day (may 16th) there is a reversal charge and the money is put back into my account. They get back to me on the 18th stating that "there was only one charge which was May 11th which is for my beauty box and that their records show no charge on May 14th!!! So I wrote them back and told them that is strange because I can see it right on my account. I took pictures of both charges with the dates as well as the reversal charge and told them I don't know how it was taken care of but thankfully it was because it doesn't sound like I would of received much help!!! I am seriously debating cancelling my subscription. I do like the products which is why I gave this review one star! Let's see when i receive the email about shipping! As of today it has been a week since the payment was posted to my bank account!!!
I got scammed by Allure BeatyBox. I ordered the box just to get the full size Sunday Riley CEO serum. Well I never received it. When I called they said that they sent it. I was like okay where is the tracking number and they said they didn’t have one. So there is no actual proof that they sent it. Which, I doubt they did since many others had this problem. They then offered me a $20 face wash as a sub which is basically a bait and switch. No thanks my face wash is elemis. So, they were like okay we’ll have a manager call you. Well that was like 3 or 4 days ago, so I’m pretty sure they blew me off. I’m cancelling today. This box is not worth the stress.
